Life as a WC student: The ups, the downs, the memories…
When you first attend class at Wellington College, the high chance is that you’re coming into uncharted territory and entering alone. It’s scary for those who are young and don’t know what to expect of a post-secondary institution. It’s also scary for mature students who have not attended school for many years and now returning for another career or for a supplement to their current occupation. Pretty much everyone is terrified, and this is before they ask you to remove certain articles of clothing to begin practicing your massage techniques.
Nevertheless, here at Wellington College, students quickly create great and long-lasting friendships. It’s important to be comfortable when working and learning with others; which are much easier when there is a good relationship between yourself and other students. Small friendships build into a family environment. It may seem a little extreme to hear these words, but when you’re placed in the same classes with the same group of people for almost 40 hours a week, working with each other’s bodies to get the best practical education possible – there is a good chance that you will grow quite close to your fellow students.
Part of the Wellington experience is the events and functions that are planned and hosted by the Student Representative Council (SRC). The SRC is the student’s Voice to the faculty and administrative staff. Comprised of student representatives from each year in the full-time and distance education programs, the SRC is involved in planning social events/activities, fundraising for graduation, addressing any possible concerns of the student body, and much more.
Wellington College has been a growing and advancing school with plenty of knowledge and experience to share with its students. This college holds opportunities for students to look into various directions with specialized training in massage to work with athletes, work injuries, pregnancy, spa, etc… and will continue to help their students long after graduation.
